Ruth
Evelyn Singley, 83, of Mason City died at 11:58 a.m. Saturday, July
7, 2001, in rural Tazewell County.
Her
funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 12, at Christ
Lutheran Church of Mason City, with the Rev. Robert Martinek
officiating.
Burial
will be in Mason City Cemetery.
Visitation
will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at Hurley Funeral Home
in Mason City.
She
was a homemaker for many years, then worked at Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital for 14 years, two years in housekeeping and 12
years as a nurse’s aide. She also provided home health care for
the elderly for several years.
She
was born Oct. 4, 1917, in Mason City to John "Jack" Henry
and Viola Mae Curtis Rabbe. She married Delbert Clarence Singley on
Feb. 21, 1937, in Fort Madison, Iowa. He died Aug. 7, 1987.
Surviving
Mrs. Singley are two sons, Carlos Singley of Lincoln and Robert
Singley of Mason City; five daughters, Delberta Hapke of Pekin,
Janet (and Terry) Henricks of Pekin, Donna (and Deck) Sanbloom of
Brookston, Ind., Marva Kay (and Marcello) Fonseco of San Francisco,
Calif., and Terri Ruth (and Tim) Knoll of Livermore, Calif.; 17
grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;
two sisters, Mildred M. Covert and Marian F. Lindsey, both of
Peoria; and a special friend, Harmon Hildebrand.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and one sister.
Memorial
contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church of Mason City.

Veach
Doris
C. Veach, 81, of Normal, formerly of Atlanta, died at 5:30 a.m.
Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Normal.
Her
funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Minier Assembly of
God Church, Minier. The Rev. Robert M. Eby will officiate.
Entombment
will be in Park Hill Mausoleum, Bloomington.
Visitation
will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Minier Assembly of God
Church.

Funeral Home in Atlanta is in charge of arrangements.
She
was born Aug. 23, 1919, at Stanford to Henry and Mary Ellen Jackson
Herman. She married Edward Benton Veach on Aug. 30, 1940, at
Burlington, Iowa. He died March 4, 1991.
Surviving
Mrs. Veach are three sons, E. Dwayne Veach (and Cindy) of Fresno,
Calif., Robert H. Veach (and Terry) of Atlanta and Jerry L. Veach
(and Karen) of Seymour, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and three
stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren and four
step-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Bill Herman of Minonk
and Delbert Herman of Chillicothe.
She
also was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
She
was a member of the Minier Assembly of God Church.
Memorials
may be made to her church or to the Atlanta Rescue Squad.

JoAnn
Louise Hofmann, 52, of Mason City died at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, July 8,
2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Her
funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, at Hurley
Funeral Home, 603 E. Chestnut in Mason City, with the Rev. Marvin
Lorenz officiating.
Burial
will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Decatur.
Visitation
will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at the funeral home.
She
was a house cleaner.
She
was born April 18, 1949, in Pekin to Karl and Louis M. Lieber Studt
Hofmann.
Surviving
are her mother, of San Jose; two brothers, Ronald (and Phyllis)
Hofmann of San Jose and Donald Hofmann of San Jose; one sister,
Janet (and Donald) E. Cookson of Forest City; one nephew; three
nieces; and Arlo Cookson, her companion, with whom she shared her
home.
She
was preceded in death by her father and two sisters.
She
was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, San Jose.
Memorials
