Praise for ALMH

10-8-01

To the editor:

I would like to let people in this community know about my experience in the ALMH Emergency Room. I sent the following letter to ALMH before I left Lincoln.

Woody Hester, CEO

Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital

Lincoln, IL 62656

Dear Sir,

Going on a vacation is fun, but ending up in an emergency room is not part of the vacation plan.

Finding it necessary to seek out your hospital on the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 2, I was pleasantly surprised. First, I found an immaculate facility with a more-than-adequate staff to tend to my needs immediately.

I was taken to my cubicle by the capable nurse Harlyne, who hooked me up to the necessary apparatus while reassuring me in a friendly and caring manner. The emergency room doctor, Dr. Pinter, was with me quickly and was also friendly and reassuring. He arranged for a blood work-up and another test, while Teri, the technician, who was also very capable and kind, drove over from Mount Pulaski to administer the necessary diagnostic test.

I was surprised to learn that this test would be read immediately by doctors in Springfield via the computer.

The level of professionalism with which I was treated was such that when I was allowed to leave, I felt completely confident that I had nothing seriously wrong and that if I followed the doctor’s recommendations I would be fine. That proved to be the case.

In farewell, nurse Harlyne gave me a hug and said she was glad there was nothing seriously wrong. I have been in many emergency rooms, but I have never had such a caring response from the people in charge.

Thank you, staff, one and all, for making my stay so reassuring.

The people of the Lincoln area are fortunate to have such a facility.

I do have one recommendation. Please light your emergency sign clearly, so people from out of town can find your emergency room quickly.

Scottsdale, Ariz.

Thanks from Logan County Arts Association

10-2-01

To the editor:

On behalf of the Logan County Arts Association I would like to personally thank the people of Lincoln and surrounding area for their support of our first event, "Music, Magic, and More," sponsored by Gossett Decorator Studio.

We look forward to our next event, on Oct. 11 at the Lincoln Theater. We will be showing "Casablanca" in the original uncut version. Check out our great 1940s vintage period poster of the movie located on the south-side front window of the theater.

As always, thanks for supporting the arts.

Sincerely,

Marshall H. Jacobs

President

Logan County Arts Association
