Alvin Schmidt

Alvin C. Schmidt, 90, of Lincoln died at 6:05 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at Mason City Area Nursing Home.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Dan Wissmann officiating.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home of Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.

Schmidt farmed in West Lincoln Township before his retirement.

He was born Feb. 24, 1911, in Lincoln to Frederick and Clara L. Baker Schmidt. He married Louise A. Ramlow in Attica, Ind., on Feb. 2, 1935.

Surviving are his wife, of Mason City; one son, Thomas Schmidt of Hartsburg; one daughter, Joyce (and husband Gene) Conrady of Mason City; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leslie Schmidt of Lincoln, Ralph E. Schmidt of Lincoln and David Schmidt of Crystal Lake; and one sister, Ruth Schmidt of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Louis Schmidt.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln, where he participated in the church choir 40 years, was a member of Kogudus and served as superintendent of the Sunday School. He was also a member of Farm Bureau and the Westpoint-Rothchild school board.

Memorials may be made to his church.
