Leona Donath

Leona E. Donath, 82, of Lincoln died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at her home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, at Holland and Barry, with the Rev. Mark Carnahan officiating.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mrs. Donath was a retired elementary teacher.

She was born Aug. 19, 1919, in Lincoln to Allen and Lena May Beaver Eury. She married John W. Donath on April 5, 1944, in Lincoln. He died Oct. 10, 1995.

Surviving are one daughter, Carla J. Ackerman of Lincoln; two granddaughters, Miki (and husband Todd) Farwell of Brewton, Ala., and Franni (and husband Tom) Vlahovich of Philo; and one great-granddaughter, Delaney Farwell of Brewton, Ala.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Retired Teachers Association, DAR, Logan County Homemakers Extension and Logan County Farm Bureau. She also taught crocheting at The Oasis senior center in Lincoln.

She was a graduate of Lincoln College.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, hospice or First United Methodist Church Heritage Ringer Bell Choir.
