Don Douthit

Don Douthit, 71, of Lincoln died at 7:20 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Arrangements are pending at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Anna Ely

Anna Pearl Ely, 89, of Mason City died at 4:18 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 11, at Hurley Funeral Home, 603 E. Chestnut in Mason City.

Services, with the Rev. Bruce Bolin-Ghitalla officiating, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery.

Mrs. Ely had been a dental assistant and an X-ray technician for Caterpillar. She also taught ceramics from her home.

She was born May 3, 1912, in Springfield to William T. and Nellie Parman McCarty. She married Elton Ely in Springfield on Feb. 13, 1942. He died Aug. 4, 1980.

Surviving are two sisters, Sue Wood of California and Betty Lou Elderd of Seattle, Wash.; two sisters-in-law, Ida McCarty of Springfield and Barb McCarty of Arizona; 23 nieces and nephews; and 25 great-nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Mason City.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church.

Helen Taylor

Helen F. Taylor, 94, of Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her grandson John Hoyt Jr. will officiate.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and one hour before the service on Tuesday.

Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker for her family.

She was born June 27, 1907, in Middletown to Oscar and Mary Huskins Sapp. She married Hal L. Taylor on June 4, 1927, in Lincoln. He died Jan. 25, 1980.

Surviving are three daughters, Elsie Cunningham of Lincoln, Jean Matson of Lutz, Fla., and Goldean Hoyt of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Goldie Kashock of Springfield.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth; two brothers; four sisters; and two grandchildren.

She was a member of Park Meadows Baptist Church of Lincoln.
