Eloise Jones

Eloise M. Jones, 73, of Lincoln died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Lincoln Christian Church.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Lincoln.

Mrs. Jones was born Feb. 24, 1929, in Tuscola to George and Nellie Stanley Birk. She married Lawrence "Larry" Jones in Lincoln on Aug. 17, 1947.

She owned and operated Eloises Beauty Shop in Lincoln for 43 years.

Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Sonjo (and Gary) McAfee and Marla (and Greg) Shanle, both of Lincoln; three grandsons, Jay (and Heather) McAfee of New Holland and Jeff McAfee and Kevin Shanle, both of Lincoln; one granddaughter, Carrie Shanle of Lincoln; one great-grandson, Nathan McAfee of New Holland; three brothers, Hobert Birk of Manchester, N.H., and Gilbert Birk and Jimmie "Pete" Birk, both of Lincoln; and two sisters, Patricia Calvo of Hemet, Calif., and Linda Smith of Ponca City, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, one sister and one brother.

She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to Lincoln Christian Church, the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.

Carol ‘Bonny’ Beck

Carol "Bonny" Beck, 63, of rural Atlanta, died at 7:07 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at her home.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Quiram Funeral Home in Atlanta, followed by a funeral service at 7:30. Pastor James Gilroy will officiate.

In Forsyth, Mo., visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and a service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, both at Whelchel Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Snapps Memorial Garden, Forsyth, Mo.

Mrs. Beck was born Dec. 8, 1938, in Peoria to Sherman and Iola Moreland Hendricks. She married Harley Beck on Sept. 16, 1977, at Shirley. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Alan (and Lynn) Paul of Bellevue, Neb., Greg (and Lisa) Paul of Bloomington; one daughter, Lisa (and Ed) Birk of Beason; six stepchildren, Harley Dean (and Stephanie) Beck of Mount Pulaski, Ronnie (and Cathy) Beck of Lincoln, Becky (and Raymie) Burger of Lincoln, Karen (and Don) Beck of Lawndale, Gladys (and Chuck) Williams of Atlanta and Steve Beck of Atlanta; 28 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, RoseAnn (and Oren) Schaab of Normal; and one brother, Jack (and Linda) Hendricks of Shirley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two stepsons, one grandson and two granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to the Beck family.
