Banquet planned for ISU senior student-athletes

[APRIL 8, 2003]  NORMAL -- Former University of Minnesota women's athletics director Chris Voelz, a 1970 Illinois State graduate, will be the keynote speaker at ISU's senior student-athlete banquet at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, in the ballroom at the Bone Student Center. The event is sponsored by Illinois State's Varsity-I Club.

During the banquet, all Redbird student-athletes completing their eligibility will be recognized and presented with a plaque commemorating their accomplishments at Illinois State.

Voelz participated in volleyball, golf, softball and basketball as a student-athlete at Illinois State and is a member of the Illinois State University Athletics Hall of Fame. In addition to Voelz, Director of Athletics Perk Weisenburger and Varsity-I Club President Rick Percy will speak. Senior softball player Corey Harris and senior football player Aaron Peterson will respond on behalf of their classmates.

The banquet is open to the public. Tickets are $20 each and available by calling the office of the Redbird Club, (309) 438-3803. Reservation deadline is 4 p.m. Friday, April 25.
