Marian J. Kavanagh, 84 of Lincoln, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 in St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln. (Natural Causes).

A Memorial Mass celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Famliy Church in Lincoln with Father Thomas Taylor officiating.

No Visitation is scheduled.

Burial will be at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery in Lincoln.

Memorials can be made to Holy Family Church or to St. Clara's Manor.

Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Kavanagh is survived by neices, nephew and cousins.

She was preceded in death by two brothers Charles R. Kavanagh and Richard W. Kavanagh.

She was born in Tecumseh, Nebraska to Charles S. and Helen R. Schweikert Kavanagh on July 28, 1919.

Miss Kavanagh was retired from the Farms Home Administration where she had been an administrative assistant. She a member of Holy Family Church and had been a volunteer doing sewing at St. Clara's Manor.
 


Kathleen D. Van Etten, formerly of San Jose, 78

Kathleen D. Van Etten, of Pekin (formerly of San Jose), 78, died of natural causes at 7:50 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003 at Pekin Manor.

There will be no services for Mrs. Van Etten.  She will be creamated.

Mrs. Van Etten was born to Frank and Dorthy (Litherland) Dennison on Feb. 4, 1925 in San Jose.  She married Richard Van Etten on June 5, 1954 in San Jose.

She is survived by one brother, Phil Dennison of San Jose and one sister, Audrey Palmer of Delevan.

She managed a fabric shop in Bethlehem, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made to San Jose United Methodist Church.

Hurley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


Glenn L. Martin, 98, of Lincoln died at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 25 at Maple Ridge Care Centre.

Mr. Martin was born to Zachie and Blanche Adell (Miller) Martin on Oct. 14, 1905 in Lincoln. He married Maybelle Rigg on May 16, 1928.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Vigil and Paul Martin; and one grand daughter, Cathy. He was the last member of his immediate family.

He is survived by two children; Richard L. Martin, Lincoln and Joyce H. Moore, Placetia, CO; two grand children and five great grand children.

Mr. Martin worded at Stetson China and at Cuttler Hammer. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Lincoln Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star.

Holland and Barry Funeral Home is handling arrangements. He will be cremated.

James T. Skaggs, 90, of Mason City died Friday (Dec. 19, 2003) at 8:40 a.m. at the Mason City Area Nursing Home.

He was cremated, and there is no visitation.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Mason City United Methodist Church, with Pastor Bruce Bolin-Ghitalla officiating.

Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery.

Mr. Skaggs farmed in the Mason City area, and after retiring from farming he was head custodian and a school bus driver for District 123 for many years.

He was born June 1, 1913, in Middletown, Ky., to John and Minnie Beard Skaggs. He married Belle Martin Schoonover in 1937, and she died in 1968. He married Lucille Lynn on July 14, 1968, and she died May 26, 1996. He married Mary Kurilko on Aug. 7, 1997, and she is his surviving spouse.

Other survivors are one stepson, Robert Lynn of Ocala, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Betty Doyle of Petersburg and Susan Repplinger of Palatine; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ethel Schoonover of Mason City.

He was also preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mason City.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church or the Mason City Library Foundation.


Homer D. Tripp, 82, Mason City

Homer D. Tripp, 82, of Mason City died of natural causes on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003 at 5:44 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 26 at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City.

Cremation will be accorded with burial at Mason City Cemetery, Mason City.
Mr. Tripp was born to Home and Hazel (Sewell) Tripp on May 25, 1921 in Greenview. He married Doris Adams on Aug. 26, 1949 in Greenview. She survives.

Other survivors include son, Mark Trippp of Springfield, a brother, Wayne Tripp of Mason City; a sister, Wilma Propst of Greenview.
He was preceded in death by one son, Timmy Lee Tripp.

Mr. Tripp worked at Corn Products in Pekin for 37 years. He served in the Airforce during WWII. He was a member of Greenview Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
