C.N. 'Saul' Hedstrom

C.N. "Saul" Hedstrom, 79, of Mason City died Friday (July 11, 2003) at 1 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was cremated.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hurley Funeral Home, 603 E. Chestnut in Mason City.

Burial of ashes will be in Mason City Cemetery on Wednesday, with a service conducted by the Rev. Randy Paine at 11 a.m. American Legion Jackson Keen Post 496 will provide military rites.

Mr. Hedstrom was a design engineer for Caterpillar Tractor in Mossville. He retired after 27 years with the company.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Chicago to Per Olaf and Amelia Johnson Hedstrom. He married Amy Housworth on June 20, 1953, at the Mason City United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors are his wife; one son, Josh Hedstrom of Mason City; and two sisters, Viola Cedarleaf of Libertyville and Dorothy Hadley of Spokane, Wash.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

He was a member Mason City United Presbyterian Church and a past deacon of the church. He was a 50-year member and former exalted ruler of Lincoln Elks BPOE 914 and a member of the American Legion Jackson Keen Post 496 in Mason City. He was a former Mason City councilman and had served on the Mason City school board.

He graduated with a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana.

Eleanor Ramlow

Eleanor M. Ramlow, 77, of Lincoln died Thursday (July 10, 2003) at 11:10 a.m. at her home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Holland and Barry in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Dan Wissman officiating.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mrs. Ramlow was a homemaker for her family.

She was born April 6, 1926, in Logan County to William F. and Opal M. Bates Ackerman. She married Carl C. Ramlow on June 17, 1944, in Emden. He died June 3, 1940.

Survivors are three sons, Harold A. (and Judith A.) Ramlow, Rick L. (and Kathy S.) Ramlow and Dennis R. (and Debra S.) Ramlow, all of Lincoln; one daughter, Bonnie M. Little of Lincoln; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, William A. Ackerman, Marvin Ackerman and Donald Ackerman; one sister, Norma Blye; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild. She was the last of her immediate family.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lincoln.

She graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1944.


Lillian Jackson

Lillian Jackson, 87, of Higginsville, Mo., formerly of Lincoln, died Tuesday (July 8, 2003) at 3:25 p.m. at Lexington Care Center, Lexington, Mo.

Mrs. Jackson was cremated, and there will be no visitation.

A graveside memorial service was at 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion Cemetery, Lincoln, with Tim Searby officiating.

Kerrigan-Peasley Funeral Home of Lincoln handled local arrangements.

Mrs. Jackson lived in Lincoln until moving to Higginsville, Mo., in 1995.

She was born April 14, 1916, in Lincoln to Frank and Mary Kashock.

Survivors are one son, David Jackson of Lincoln; one daughter, Joyce (and Carl) Goodman of Higginsville, Mo.; three grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; one great-great-granddaughter; and two brothers, Louis Kashock and William Kashock, both of Springfield.

She was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters and one grandson.

She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to Lexington Care Center in Lexington, Mo., or to a charity of the donor's choice.
