[JULY 17, 2003]  What was it like to attend classes in a one-room school? Children ages 8 to 12 can find out by enrolling in a special workshop at the historic 1839 Waterford Schoolhouse on the grounds of Dickson Mounds Museum, Havana.  "A Day in a One-Room School" will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on July 23.

The workshop, presented by the museum's education staff, will simulate classes in reading, writing and arithmetic, along with games.

Cost for the day is $10 per child, and each student must bring a sack lunch. Preregistration is required. To register, call Kim at (309) 547-3721.
