Award to announce men's and women's recipients Saturday on CBS

LOS ANGELES -- The
29th annual John R. Wooden
Award Ceremony, which will include the presentation of the 2005
Men's and Women's Wooden Award, the Wooden Award All-American Teams,
and Legends of Coaching Award recipient Jim Calhoun of the
University of Connecticut, will be at
The Los Angeles Athletic Club on Saturday and will be broadcast
nationally by CBS. "The John R. Wooden Award Show Presented by
TIAA-CREF" will air live from The Los Angeles Athletic Club at 1
p.m. EST.

The
top five male and female finalists have been invited to Los Angeles
for the awards ceremony and will receive a contribution from the
John R. Wooden Award Scholarship Fund for their university's general
scholarship fund. The five finalists for the Men's Wooden Award (in
alphabetical order) are Andrew Bogut of Utah, Dee Brown of Illinois,
North Carolina's Sean May, Duke's J.J. Redick and Wayne Simien of
Kansas.
The Women's Wooden Award
All-Americans (in alphabetical order) are Seimone Augustus of LSU,
Duke's Monique Currie, Ohio State's Jessica Davenport, Minnesota's
Janel McCarville and Kendra Wecker of Kansas State.

The John R. Wooden Award Scholarship
Fund was established in 2002 by Applied Materials and corporate
partners through the California Community Foundation to honor Coach
Wooden's dedication as an educator and mentor.
