Director of the Illinois Department of Public Health to visit Logan County Health Department          Send a link to a friend

[DEC. 5, 2005]  Dr. Eric Whitaker, director of the Illinois Department of Public Health, will visit the Logan County Health Department on Tuesday. Whitaker will tour the health department and the Rural Health Partnership mobile unit prior to addressing the community at 11:30 a.m. in the health department's conference room and commending the department for 35 years of public health service. There will be time for questions and answers.

Whitaker, M.D., M.P.H., was appointed director of the Illinois Department of Public Health in April 2003 by Gov. Blagojevich. Since taking office, Whitaker has crossed the state, touring local health departments as part of his "Reaching Out to Illinois Communities" initiative.

The Illinois Department of Public Health is a primary funder of the local health department's programs and services. Whitaker's visit coincides with the 35th anniversary of the Logan County Health Department. Members of the community are welcome to attend.
