NORMAL -- 'Tis the season for giving, and that is
exactly what several Illinois State student-athletes did on Saturday
morning. The Redbird family gathered at Bloomington High School from
9:30 to 11 a.m. to host a disadvantaged children's Christmas party
for local kids and their families.

Over 40 ISU student-athletes helped to make the holiday season all
the more special for those who attended the Christmas party.
Children, both young and old, could be seen jumping rope, shooting
baskets, playing with a train set and eating Christmas cookies as
Christmas music played. Mrs. Claus was on hand to welcome guests,
and prizes were awarded to children who participated in the various
activities. Illinois State assistant athletics director Jane
Fulton felt that this Christmas party helped to convey the true
reason for the season.

"An event like this can't help to put you in the Christmas
spirit," said Fulton. "Just seeing the looks on both the kids and
the athletes' faces made this party worthwhile. This time of year is
meant for celebrating, and that is exactly what we are doing here
today: celebrating the real reason for the holidays."
"I can't say enough about our student-athletes," Fulton added.
"Their continued giving of time is tremendous, and I know they truly
enjoy helping those in need."
