[DEC. 12, 2005]  SPRINGFIELD -- Central Illinois Foodbank is celebrating its third annual holiday partnership with Steak n Shake to benefit hungry families in 21 counties in central Illinois. Other food bank members of America's Second Harvest -- The Nation's Food Bank Network located throughout the country will also participate.

Through Dec. 24, the casual dining restaurant chain will donate one Steakburger patty to Central Illinois Foodbank for every $5 in Takhomeacard gift card purchases at the Lincoln restaurant location.

"Being in the restaurant business makes it especially relevant for Steak n Shake to help hungry families in the communities we serve," said Peter Dunn, president and chief executive officer of the company. "We are happy to once again donate our signature Steakburger patties to families in need this holiday season."

Steak n Shake has worked with America's Second Harvest, the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief organization, since 2002, donating patties to individual food banks in the communities they serve. In 2004, Steak n Shake donated 192 cases of Steakburger patties to Central Illinois Foodbank to help people in need through the holiday gift card program; these patties were distributed directly to local families through participating food pantries.
For the third year, Steak n Shake will offer two designs for the gift cards, available at all Steak n Shake restaurants, which are located in 20 states and can be redeemed for any menu item at any of its more than 430 locations. In Lincoln, visit 2901 Woodlawn Drive and purchase gift cards to help feed hungry families in the community.
