Jan Dickerson, B.S., CWT,
certified strength trainer and yoga instructor, will address the
Feb. 9 meeting of the ALMH Fibromyalgia Comfort Group. |
During her demonstration, Dickerson
will focus on multiple methods of achieving pain relief, using tai
chi, chair yoga and range of motion at the joints. Finding ways to
relax and stretch muscles without causing pain or strain is often a
concern of fibromyalgia sufferers. No special clothing is necessary
for attendance at this session. Fibromyalgia syndrome is a
widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which the
cause is still unknown. Fibromyalgia means pain in the muscles,
ligaments and tendons -- the soft fibrous tissues in the body.
The Fibromyalgia Comfort Group meets for approximately one hour
in a basement conference room of Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital
on the second Wednesday of each month. Attendees may bring lunch or
come a few minutes early and buy lunch in the ALMH cafeteria.
