LINCOLN -- Mary Louise Barkley, 69, of Lincoln died Monday,
July 4, 2005, at 11:20 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in
Springfield.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at New
Union Cemetery, with Rev. Kevin Feirge.
There is no visitation.
Mrs. Barkley was a cook at Lincoln High School before she
retired.
She was born Dec. 14, 1935, to Joseph and Lillie Viola
Horney Bradburn. She married James Earl Barkley, and he
preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Lillie Marie Villorente
of Norfolk, Va., and Mary Elizabeth (and Tom) Brandenburg of
Chesapeake, Va.; two sons, Charles William (and Judith)
Barkley of Virginia Beach, Va., and Timothy Andrew (and Donna)
Barkley of Mishawaka, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother
and one sister.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

ATLANTA -- George Allen Williams, 84, formerly of Atlanta,
died Sunday, July 3, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Blessing Hospital in
Quincy. He had resided at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy
since November 1996.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Quiram
Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at
Oakview Cemetery, Armington. Military rites will be conducted
by the Atlanta American Legion Gresham-Crutchley Post 341.
Mr. Williams retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company in
May 1984.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was born May 18, 1921, at Fayetteville, Ark., to Oliver
and Irma McFadden Williams. He married Margaret June Dickson
on Sept. 29, 1945, in Lincoln. She died Oct. 30, 1986.
He is survived by one son, Dale Williams of Heyworth; one
daughter, Linda Williams of Atlanta; two grandchildren; and
four great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and five
sisters.
He was a member of the Atlanta Christian Church.

LINCOLN -- Marie Baker, 98, formerly of Bloomington, died
Sunday, July 3, 2005, at 9:26 a.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre.
A graveside service was Wednesday morning at the
Atlanta Cemetery, with the Rev. Julie Azbell officiating.
Visitation preceded the service.
Quiram Funeral Home of Atlanta was in charge of
arrangements.
Mrs. Baker was employed as a bookkeeper in the office of
Model Paris for 46 years before retiring in 1972.
She was born Aug. 12, 1906, in Chicago, the youngest
daughter of Edward and Almeda Graham Conklin. She married
Charles R. Baker on July 22, 1930, in Atlanta. He died Nov.
25, 1986.
She is survived by one nephew, Robert Billiter of Atlanta,
and one niece, Marian Zabel of Pittsfield.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen
Clawson and Georgene Billiter.
She was a graduate of Atlanta High School and Brown's
Business College.
Before her eyesight failed, she enjoyed reading, sewing and
watching Illini basketball games on television.
She was the oldest member of the Atlanta United Methodist
Church, and memorials may be made to the church.

LINCOLN -- Darrell F. Lessen, 75, of Lincoln died Sunday,
July 3, 2005, at 9:18 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in
Springfield.
His body was cremated, and a memorial service will be at a
later date.
Mr. Lessen was former owner with his brother of Lessen
Trucking and retired from Albert Services as an electrician in
2002.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He was born Sept. 18, 1929, at Hartsburg to Arend "Arnie"
and Lena Luken Lessen. He married Verna M. Menssen at
Hartsburg on June 17, 1956.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; two brothers,
Donald (and Gayle) Lessen of Beason and Gene (and Marianne)
Lessen of Lincoln; and several nieces, nephews, great- and
great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister,
Patsy Gehlbach.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of
Lincoln, a member of American Legion Post 263 for 19 years, a
member of Lincoln Elks Lodge for 38 years and a member of
Logan County Farm Bureau.

MOUNT PULASKI -- Anita Rentschler, 98, of Chestnut went
home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 2, 2005, at
Vonderlieth Living Center.
Her funeral was Wednesday morning at Zion Lutheran
Church in Chestnut, with Pastor Cruikshank officiating.
Visitation preceded the service.
Burial is in Laenna Cemetery, Chestnut.
Mrs. Rentschler was a retired farmer and owner and operator
of a retail hardware and antique shop and Rentschler Seed
Service. She had also taught at Red Star County School in
Shelbyville, Mo.
She was born July 31, 1906, in Shelbyville, Mo., to George
and Louisa Clausen Keller. She married Alvin Rentschler on
Aug. 26, 1930, in Chestnut. He died Aug. 4, 1981.
She is survived by a son, Richard (and Connie) Travis of
Chestnut; a daughter-in-law, Dolores Travis of Rockford; six
grandchildren, Rick (and Kim) Travis of Cowden; Lori (and
Patrick) Przykopanski of Mount Pulaski; Mark (and Stephanie)
Travis of Edwardsville; Debbie Fabiano of Rockford; David
Travis of Rockford; and Denise (and Paul) Wixom of Rockford;
17 grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by an infant brother; one
son, Donald Travis; one grandson, Jerry Travis; and a
great-grandson.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Chestnut, its
Ladies Aid Society and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League
and was a former Sunday school teacher. She was also a member
of the Happy Homemakers.
She was a graduate of Kirksville State Teacher College in
Missouri.
She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her
family.
Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church of Chestnut
or Zion Lutheran School of Mount Pulaski.

LINCOLN -- Patricia Ann Wiemken, 81, a Lincoln native, died
Thursday, June 30, 2005, at 2:20 a.m. at her home in Los
Angeles, Calif.
Her funeral will be on Thursday, July 7, at St. Jerome's
Catholic Church in Los Angeles.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Los Angeles.
There is no visitation.
Arrangements are being handled by Inglewood Mortuary in Los
Angeles.
Mrs. Wiemken was school secretary at St. Jerome's Catholic
School in Los Angeles for 13 years. She was CEO of LPJ
Metalfab Inc. in Gardena, Calif.
She joined the Women's Army Corps during World War II and
left the service when she married.
She was born March 13, 1924, in Lincoln to Harry and Esther
Lewis Ryan. She married Ludwig Chris Wiemken in Fort Meade,
Md., in 1947. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, John C. (and Annie) Wiemken of
Los Angeles, Calif.; one grandson, Trevor C. Wiemken of Los
Angeles, Calif.; and two sisters, Mary Bowker of Las Vegas,
Nev., and Marjory (and Duane) Smalley of Lincoln.
She was a member of St. Jerome's Catholic Church in Los
Angeles.
Mrs. Wiemken loved to travel to various countries around
the world and enjoyed many cruises with family and friends.
She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister,
aunt and friend.
Memorials may be made to Wayne J. Schall Hospice.

LINCOLN -- Vincent "Cap" Ey, 91, of Lincoln died Sunday,
June 26, 2005, at 10:30 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in
Springfield.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. July 9, at Holland and Barry
Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Reinwald officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.
Mr. Ey retired from Logan County Bank in 1985 as vice
president and board member. He had been an operational partner
in Ey's Bakery from 1947 to 1968.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was born Jan. 18, 1914, at Mount Pulaski to Charles A.
and Louise M. VonDer Heide Ey. He and his wife, Mildred
"Bugs," were married Aug. 10, 1947, in Mount Pulaski. She died
Sept. 22, 2000.
He is survived by three grandchildren, Dr. Steven (and
Dalia) Ey of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; Cynthia L. Ey of Geneseo and
Kathryn Espirite of Munster, Ind.; one great-grandson, Omar Ey;
one sister, Louise Ey of Mount Pulaski; two nephews, Dr. John
Ey of Portland, Ore., and Gary Ey of Springfield; and one
niece, June A. Reich of Western Springs.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Dr. Richard Ey;
two brothers, Otto H. Ey and Carl W. Ey; and one sister,
Lillian Hutchcraft.
He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ.
