MOUNT PULASKI -- Members of the Pierce-Arrow
Society will tour Mount Pulaski on July 14, and about 50 classic
Pierce-Arrow vehicles will be on the square between 9 and 10:30 a.m.
The public is encouraged to come see the classic cars and greet the
Pierce-Arrow Society's members, who come from all across the United
States.

The Mount Pulaski Courthouse and Historical Society Museum will be
open, as well as local businesses, to greet the visitors. We are
glad to have them stop in our town. The Pierce-Arrow Society's
annual meet is July 13-17 in Springfield. The theme of this year's
meet is "Searching for Lincoln," and the group is touring area towns
with Lincoln connections on Thursday.
If you would like to see the cars after the Mount Pulaski visit,
they will be on display in Springfield at Lincoln Park in the
morning and early afternoon on July 16.

This tour is one of the first examples of the new tourism
opportunities Mount Pulaski now has because of the opening of the
Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield.
The Pierce-Arrow cars were produced in Buffalo, N.Y., until the
late 1930s. They were very large, expensive automobiles known for
their high-quality workmanship and luxury.
