Lincoln teens in early morning I-55 drinking and driving accident          Send a link to a friend

[JUNE 7, 2005]  Zachary D. Malone, 18, of Lincoln was traveling southbound on Interstate 55 at Milepost 90.0 at approximately 3:40 a.m. today (Tuesday). Two passengers were in the vehicle with him: Robert E. McDaniels Jr., 21, of Carlinville and Cassy L. Good, 18, of Lincoln.

Malone failed to maintain control of the 1998 Ford Explorer he was driving and drove into the right ditch. Upon re-entering the roadway, the vehicle rolled over.

McDaniels was ejected from the rear seat of the vehicle. He was transported by American Ambulance to St. John's Hospital in Springfield with non-life-threatening injuries.

Malone was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.

Malone and Good were cited for illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage by a minor.

Southern View Police Department, American Ambulance and Springfield Fire Department responded to the accident.
