Lynx advance to national tournament

[MARCH 8, 2005]  A strong second half carried the Lincoln College Lynx to a 77-56 victory over Shawnee in the championship game of the Region 24 men's basketball tournament at the Lincoln Christian College gym Monday night. The Lynx, with a record of 26-7, advance to the national tournament, to be played in Danville.

Shawnee held a 30-25 lead at the half, as the Lynx were able to make just eight field goals in 25 tries. Shawnee didn't shoot any better from the floor but converted 12 of 16 free throws to take the halftime lead. Lincoln College exploded for 52 second-half points while limiting Shawnee to 26 to pull away for the victory.

Rodney Williams led a balanced Lincoln College attack with 20 points, while Michael Henderson added 17 and Aaron Williams chipped in with 12. Aaron Williams pulled down 12 rebounds to lead the Lynx to a 48-30 advantage. Lincoln College had 15 assists on 25 field goals in the contest. Kente Hart led the Shawnee scoring with 20 points.

Lincoln College connected on 17 of 37 shots attempts from the floor in the second half and finished the game at 40 percent. Shawnee ended with a 30 percent mark from the floor.
