MASON CITY -- Melvin Richard "Bud" Rabbe, 79, died Monday, March 7, 2005, at 9:30 a.m. at his home.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James Childs officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery.

Mr. Rabbe farmed in the San Jose area until his retirement in 1988.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, from 1943 to 1946.

He was born Sept. 10, 1925, at rural San Jose to Richard August and Ida Imig Rabbe. He married Patricia Tockes on Sept. 3, 1950, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Allens Grove.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Judith (and Dan) Scandiff of Naperville, Patricia (and Steve) Shaw of Peoria and Debra Weber of Springfield; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Eileen Leinweber.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Mason City Legion Post 496 and Mason County Farm Bureau.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.
