Pickering, 6-foot-2, who helped
lead the Railers to a state berth in 2005, was also named MVP for
the North team during the All-Star Boys Basketball Classic.
Pickering played AA ball under the direction of Lincoln Community
High School head basketball coach Neil Alexander. The high school
coach says he's looking forward to watching Pickering as he
progresses to college play. "David is in a great situation to play
with a different group of players,” Alexander said. “He hasn't seen
his best game yet, and he'll have that opportunity under the
direction of coach McCullum."
He is sure to be an asset for the Lynx team, according to
McCullum. "We are very excited to be getting a quality
student-athlete like David,” he said. “He comes from a great high
school program and has very sound fundamental skills, which will
lead him to play at either guard spot. He has the chance to become a
really good player and expand his future opportunities. David can do
this by getting stronger physically and gaining the experience of
playing at the juco level." Last year Lincoln College finished fifth
in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II
tournament, ending with a season record of 28-8.

Pickering said he was happy to finally make the decision to come to
Lincoln College. "I'm excited, and it's nice to know where I'm going
to play for sure," said Pickering.
When asked about his level of play Pickering's response included
plans over the summer. "I'm happy to play for coach McCullum, and I
want to be ready when the action starts next fall. I plan to work on
getting stronger during the summer months."
