The amir's visit to the museum will be the second by
a head of state. The first was by President George W. Bush, when he
and the first lady were in Springfield on April 19 for the museum's
official dedication ceremony.
The amir of Qatar, along with a delegation of 12, will visit
Springfield for a cultural tour. He will tour the presidential
museum and attend a dinner in the museum's grand rotunda.
He will also make two other official visits in Chicago and New York.
Slightly smaller than Connecticut, the state of Qatar is located on
a peninsula extending north from Saudi Arabia into the Persian Gulf.
The
Abraham
Lincoln Presidential Museum will close to the public at
3 p.m. Tuesday and resume normal operating hours on Wednesday.
