Lincoln Christian College to host NCCAA Division II Volleyball Championship

[NOV. 3, 2005]  GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The National Christian College Athletic Association will have its Division II National Volleyball Championship at Lincoln Christian College, Lincoln, Ill., Nov. 10-12. The national championship will host approximately 120 student-athletes, plus coaching staff and fans from NCCAA colleges and universities across the country. LCC's Angels will be among the participating teams volleying for the national title.

"We're excited to hold the NCCAA volleyball championship in Lincoln," said Dan Wood, executive director of the NCCAA. "Lincoln Christian's commitment to this tournament, and the assistance of Ed Plumier and Kevin Crawford of the Department of Physical Education in making this partnership a reality, is greatly appreciated. We look forward to a successful event!"

The event will open with a Christian service project on Nov. 9. Student-athletes will visit the Lincoln Christian Village Retirement Center. "This is an outstanding way in which LCC and the NCCAA can give back to the Lincoln community," said LCC volleyball coach Crawford. "We look forward to being with the residents of the Christian Village."

An evening banquet will follow the Christian service project on Wednesday. Dr. Wendell Becton, a sports physician, will be the guest speaker, challenging the championship participants to excellence. Following the banquet will be a time of prayer and praise at LCC's Focus, a scheduled worship service in LCC"s Earl C Hargrove Chapel.

Games begin Nov. 10 in the Lincoln Christian College Laughlin Center. Championship brackets are available at www.lccs.edu by clicking on "Athletics." [Schedule]
