Hartsburg-Emden Stags claim third place at state volleyball
championship

NORMAL -- In the quarterfinals of the IHSA
Volleyball State Tournament, played at Redbird Arena, Hartsburg-Emden
Stags defeated Harvard 25-22, 25-19 Friday to move on to the
semifinals Saturday against Breese.

Breese won 25-16, 25-17, sending the Stags to play Spring Valley for
third and fourth places in the finals. Hartsburg-Emden defeated
Spring Valley (Hall) 25-12, 25-17 for third place in the state
championship.
Breese Central High School claimed the state title, and Columbia
High School took second.
Hartsburg-Emden and coach Jennifer Hayes ended their season 34-8.
