In response to Wal-Mart [see letters],
I too remember all the stores that Lincoln had all those years ago…
how everyone enjoyed shopping downtown. Keyword is "downtown." Now
there's no real downtown, because everyone has to go to Wal-Mart or
out of town, where they have a better choice for shopping. Lincoln
at one time was the better choice. Wal-Mart doesn't like
competition at all. Stores that come in at a town where a
Supercenter is do not last long, because the other stores have to
cut back on hours and your pay, just to keep up with Wal-Mart. A
worker at McDonalds or IGA will make more and get more respect than
what Wal-Mart will ever give a worker, so if Lincoln wants a
Wal-Mart Supercenter, good luck. I hope the cost will be cheaper
than what Wal-Mart will ever go.
