Lincoln Christian Angels defeat Greenville   Send a link to a friend

[NOV. 29, 2005]  The Lincoln Christian College Angels broke open a close game with the Greenville Panthers by scoring seven unanswered points when the score had been tied at 36-36 with six minutes left in the contest. A free throw by Kari Otto and baskets by Evie Doss, Megan Buxton and Jessica Fender took the Angels to 43-36 advantage. From that point on the teams traded points, resulting in the final score of Angels 51, Panthers 44.

According to coach Amanda Bowman, several of the Angels players have been battling the flu but gave an all-out effort to bring about the victory.

LCC was led in scoring by Katie Geisler with 12 and Jessica Blythe with 10. Natalie Lappe, Jessica Thompson and Ashley Altopp led the Panthers with 12, 11 and 10, respectively.

Both teams were cold from the field, with Lincoln shooting 26.8 percent and Greenville 24.1 percent. The Angels out-rebounded the Panthers 51-45.

LCC will be in action on the road Tuesday evening at Blackburn College before returning to the Laughlin Center on Dec. 5, when they face Maryville University.
