[NOV. 30, 2005]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, at 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Maple Ridge to sponsor bingo

Maple Ridge Care Centre will sponsor the bingo games that begin at noon Thursday at The Oasis. Come join the fun and bring a friend.

Annual chili supper

The senior center's annual chili and vegetable soup supper will be on Thursday in conjunction with the Christmas parade in downtown Lincoln. Serving will begin at 3 p.m. The menu this year includes chili and vegetable soup, homemade dessert, and drink for $4. Hot dogs will also be available for purchase. Santa will visit The Oasis following the parade, and photos will be available for purchase. Come join the fun!

Oasis belles

The Oasis Red Hat group will meet Tuesday at 11 a.m., and lunch will be at 11:30 at the senior center. Please call 732-6132 by Monday to make reservations for your lunch.

Tuesday lunch

The regular Tuesday lunch at 11:30 a.m. will feature beef broccoli over Roman noodles, salad, bread and butter, dessert, and a drink for only $3.75, or $3.25 if you stay and play cards. Ticket deadline is Monday.

Rules of the Road

The secretary of state's office continues to offer a Rules of the Road course free of charge to all interested parties. The next course is scheduled for Tuesday at 1 p.m. The course is designed to help you become a better a safer driver and to assist individuals who may have to take a written exam or behind-the-wheel test. No reservation necessary.

Meeters and Greeters

The Meeters and Greeters group will meet Tuesday at 2 p.m. This group of volunteers visits once a month with those who cannot get out, to add a bright spot in their life.

Hearing screening

The Oasis will have free hearing checks Dec. 7 between 10 a.m. and noon. Please call 732-6132 for an appointment.

Winners for the week announced

Mina Bradburn and Eleanor Barton were weekday pinochle winners. The weekend pinochle winners were Larry Van Bibber and Linda Hughes. The five-in-one winners were Henry Warnisher, Linda Hughes and Dorothy Oltmanns.
