Hazel Hickey

LINCOLN -- Hazel E. Hickey, 83, formerly of Mason City, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at 3:10 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor Nursing Home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Curt McCallister officiating.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.

Mrs. Hickey was employed as a nurse's aide for 28 years at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 13, 1922, at Lincoln to William H. and Pansy McCray Lee. She married Joseph V. Hickey Sr. on April 21, 1940, at Bowling Green, Mo.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph V. Hickey Sr. of Lincoln; two sons, Joseph V. (and Kay) Hickey Jr. of Cornland and Robert James (and Ann) Hickey of Lincoln; five daughters, Sandra (and Robert) Meador of Lincoln, Loretta Ann (and Truett) Minor of Bessemer, Ala., Virginia Chere of Lincoln, Nancy Jo (and Roger) Sutton of Lincoln and Rebecca Osborne of Lincoln; one brother, Walter Lee of Lincoln; three sisters, Loretta Buchholz of Lincoln, Leona Sherrer of Lincoln and Marilyn Lolling of Hartsburg; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

One daughter, three brothers and son-in-law Danny Chere preceded her in death.

Memorials may be made to St. Clara's Manor or Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
