Members of Lincoln College's Union of Student
Activists are planning to host a car wash at the Lincoln Wal-Mart on
Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The group is asking for a $5
donation per car, which will be forwarded to a family that was
affected by the Hurricane Katrina tragedy. The family -- a displaced
chemist and construction worker with two small children -- lived in
New Orleans.

David Peterlinz, a sophomore from Wheaton and president of Union of
Student Activists, says he hopes this small effort will help ease
the financial burden for the family. "I felt, as a student of
Lincoln College, I should be doing something to help," he said. "I
can't tell you the countless number of images of desperation I have
seen over the past couple of weeks. As a group we decided we could
do something to help."
According to Ron Keller, faculty adviser for the group, the
grass-roots effort of the Lincoln College students reflects the
generosity of the nation. "I was so proud to hear the concerns of
our students and their willingness to donate their time to help a
family in need."
