Illinois Symphony to present 'Beautiful Music'

[SEPT. 15, 2005]  SPRINGFIELD -- The Illinois Symphony Orchestra will perform its first masterworks concert of the season, "Beautiful Music" on Sept. 16 in Bloomington-Normal, at Braden Auditorium on the campus of Illinois State University, and on Sept. 17 in Springfield, at Sangamon Auditorium on the campus of University of Illinois at Springfield. Musical performances begin at 8 p.m. and are preceded by Maestra Karen Lynne Deal's concert comments at 7:15 p.m.

Deal will conduct the symphony in performances of Mozart's Magic Flute Overture, Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor and Symphony No. 2 by Rachmaninoff. Joining the orchestra for the Grieg concerto will be pianist Enrique Graf.

Season tickets are on sale through Sept. 17. Tickets in Bloomington are $35 and $30 and can be reserved by telephoning Braden Auditorium at (309) 438-5444. Tickets in Springfield are $35, $30 and $25 and can be purchased by calling Sangamon Auditorium at (217) 206-6160. Additional information on tickets and seating is available at www.ilsymphony.org.

These concerts are made possible in part through a grant from the Illinois Arts Council and through concert sponsors State Farm in Bloomington-Normal and American General and Bunn-O-Matic in Springfield.
