  Clara 'Darlene' Proefrock

LINCOLN -- Clara "Darlene" Proefrock, 76, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at 7:40 a.m. at the Christian Village.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. R. Anthony Lee officiating.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour before the service on Monday. There will also be a prayer service at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Proefrock retired from the Woods and Bates law office, where she worked as a receptionist and bookkeeper.

She was born Oct. 1, 1928, at Altamont to Benjamin and Abby Crowe Reiss. She married Loren W. Proefrock on Feb. 12, 1949, in Altamont.

She is survived by her husband, of Lincoln; four sons, Dr. David (and Vicki) Proefrock of Martinez, Ga., Dean Proefrock of Litchfield, John (and Kay) Proefrock of Hartsburg and Jim (and Marlo) Proefrock of Champaign; one brother, Thomas Reiss of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Helen Johanns of Farmer City and Ruth Ann Stapp of Winnsboro, Texas; eight grandchildren, Amy Wallace, Sarah (and Jason) Lorek, Jessica (and Brandon) Payne, Benjamin Proefrock, Monica Proefrock, Ann Proefrock, Edie Welshons and Eleanor Welshons; and two great-grandsons, Brandon Wallace and Kyle Wallace.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

She was a member of Holy Family Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post 263 and the Lincoln Woman's Club. She was clerk of the horse races for the Logan County Fair Association and secretary-treasurer of the Illinois Big 10 Colt Stakes Association

Memorials may be made to the Christian Village in Lincoln.
