[APRIL 12, 2006]  NORMAL -- The 2006 Illinois State Athletics Hall of Fame class was officially announced on Tuesday. The class spans 15 years of athletic achievement and consists of Caryn Brune-Goss from Rochelle Township High School, Rochelle, the single-game scoring leader in ISU women's basketball history; Jodi Burch-Jansevanrensburg from Brazosport High School, Freeport, Texas, the Redbirds' first softball all-American and one of ISU's most dominant pitchers of all time; James Duncan from Libertyville High School, Vernon Hills, a three-time all-American in track and field and national runner-up in the indoor 200-meter dash; and Rickie Johnson from Washington High School, Indianapolis, Ind., the energizing leader of the ISU's men's basketball team that earned three straight NCAA tournament appearances in the early 1980s.

Along with the 2006 Hall of Fame class, Dr. Jim Johnson, a longtime faculty member and current volunteer at the Karin Bone Athletics Study Center, will be honored with the Campbell "Stretch" Miller Award.

The group will officially be inducted during the Hall of Fame banquet on Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel in Bloomington, following a 6 p.m. reception. The five honorees will also be recognized during halftime of the Illinois State-Eastern Illinois football game on Sept. 16.

Tickets for the Hall of Fame ceremony are $25 per person and can be purchased through The Redbird Club office. To order tickets for the event or for more information, please call Anne Campbell at (309) 438-3803.
