Athletics Hall of Fame class announced

The 2006 Illinois State Athletics Hall of Fame class was officially
announced on Tuesday. The class spans 15 years of athletic
achievement and consists of Caryn Brune-Goss from Rochelle Township
High School, Rochelle, the single-game scoring leader in ISU women's
basketball history; Jodi Burch-Jansevanrensburg from Brazosport High
School, Freeport, Texas, the Redbirds' first softball all-American
and one of ISU's most dominant pitchers of all time; James Duncan
from Libertyville High School, Vernon Hills, a three-time
all-American in track and field and national runner-up in the indoor
200-meter dash; and Rickie Johnson from Washington High School,
Indianapolis, Ind., the energizing leader of the ISU's men's
basketball team that earned three straight NCAA tournament
appearances in the early 1980s.

Along with the 2006 Hall of Fame class, Dr. Jim Johnson, a longtime
faculty member and current volunteer at the Karin Bone Athletics
Study Center, will be honored with the Campbell "Stretch" Miller
Award. The group will officially be inducted during the Hall of
Fame banquet on Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel in
Bloomington, following a 6 p.m. reception. The five honorees will
also be recognized during halftime of the Illinois State-Eastern
Illinois football game on Sept. 16.
Tickets for the Hall of Fame ceremony are $25 per person and can
