Birding on Elkhart Hill          Send a link to a friend

[APRIL 13, 2006]  ELKHART -- The Elkhart Historical Society invites you to join ornithologist Vernon Kleen and other birding enthusiasts on April 29 for two special outings on Elkhart Hill. Bring along your binoculars to catch views of the beautiful birds all through the walk.

The first session will meet at Miss Jessie's Gallery at 7:30 a.m. and leave for Elkhart Hill promptly at 8 a.m. to catch the majority of songbirds. The group will return to the village at 11 a.m. The second session will meet at Miss Jessie's Gallery at 12:45 p.m. and depart promptly at 1 p.m. The second group will return to the village at 4 p.m.

Though you will be able to take your cars to the departure point, the groups will be going on foot, so please be sure to dress for the weather and use insect repellent.

Reservations must be made in advance, and the cost is $5 per person. The group size will be limited to 25. Please call (217) 947-2238 for more information and for reservations. When calling, leave your name, the number in your party and a phone contact.
