Preschoolers' park experience tainted by drug encounter

Send a link to a friend

To the editor:

I am writing in regard to an occurrence at Scully Park today [written April 26].

My 4-year-old son's day-care class went to the park this morning for morning play, as it was a beautiful day outside.

The children went into the little firehouse to play and found a pack of cigarettes and lighters. Being the smart children they are, they took it to their teacher. The teacher opened and examined its contents to discover drug paraphernalia inside the box. The police were called and the matter was handled.

I want to thank Miss Judy and Miss Julie for taking care of the situation promptly. I want to thank officer Tim Butterfield for showing up immediately and his actions in the matter. My little boy was very proud that the policeman came and took the bad stuff away.

[to top of second column in this letter]

I want to say this to the idiot who left that stuff for the children to find: You are an ignorant, stupid person to leave something like that. Our little 4- and 5-year-olds have more smarts than you do. Shame on you for tarnishing such a nice, clean park.
