Robert 'Bud' Moran

[AUG. 31, 2006]  Robert "Bud" Patrick Moran, 85, formerly of Taylorville and Lincoln, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, at 11:24 a.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Peasley Funeral Home. Prior to the visitation there will be a prayer service at 4:45.

His funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. R. Anthony Lee officiating.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

Mr. Moran was employed as a barber at the Lincoln Development Center from 1963 until 1981.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving from Oct. 5, 1942, until Jan. 16, 1946. He served on the USS Ashland and at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in California.

He was born in Chicago on Sept. 25, 1920, to Patrick "P.J." and Mae Hett Moran.

He is survived by his two daughters, Julie (and Jeff) Denning of Taylorville and Susan Newton of Lincoln; his former wife, Kathryn (and Arthur) Clutts of Petersburg; two sisters, Marion Mueller of Oak Lawn and Patricia Lawrence of Orlando Park; eight grandchildren, Joel Schmidt of Taylorville, Ashley Denning of Taylorville, Chelsea Leesman of Lincoln, Whitney Denning of Taylorville, Aaron Leesman Jr. of Lincoln, Ashley Newton of Lincoln, Evan Newton of Lincoln and Kathryn Newton of Lincoln; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard "Dick" Moran; a sister-in-law, Virginia Moran; and a brother-in-law, Edward Mueller.

He was a member of Holy Family Church and American Legion Post 263.

He had wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made to Carroll Catholic School.
