Luetta “Lou” R. Holmes

[DEC. 29, 2006]  Mt. Pulaski  -- Luetta “Lou” R. Holmes, 71, of Mount Pulaski passed away at 6:21 p.m. on December 27, 2006 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

Mrs. Holmes was a retired LPN. She worked as the Mount Pulaski Grade School Nurse and was with the Mount Pulaski Ambulance for 12 years.

Mrs. Holmes was cremated. Private family services will be held at a later date. Bill Shanle will serve as clergy. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski handled arrangements.

She was born to Marvin and Lillie Mae McGarvey Uppole on December 8, 1935 in Peoria. She married John Raymond Holmes Sr. on July 5, 1953 in Chestnut.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John R. Holmes Sr. of Mt. Pulaski. Also surviving are four sons, John R. (Laurie) Holmes Jr. of Lawton, OK, Greg (Tammy J.) Holmes of Mt. Pulaski, Michael E. Holmes of Naperville, Darren (Tammy G.) Holmes of Billings, Montana; two brothers, Ronald Uppole and Gary Uppole; three sisters, Diane Albertson, Beverly Betts, Pamela Wilson, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Holmes enjoyed bowling, playing cards and bingo.

She was of the Christian Faith
