[JULY 10, 2006]  Louise E. Levi, 97, of Lincoln died Saturday, July 8, 2006, at 9:40 p.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre with her family by her side.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Richard Reinwald officiating.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.

She was born June 10, 1909, in Logan County to John and Katherine Seitzer Stuan. She married Morgan Levi on Feb. 12, 1931, in Edwardsville. He died July 10, 1983.

She is survived by her children, James Morgan Levi (and his wife, Jo Ann), Joyce Irene Voyles, Kenneth Donald Levi (and his wife, Carolyn) and Mary Louise Fuller, all of Lincoln; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Jean Levi, and three sisters, Irene Epstein, Mildred O'Bryan and Edith Brown.

Mrs. Levi was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and a past member of the Logan County Home Extension.

She was a housekeeper for several Lincoln families before her marriage.

After her marriage she enjoyed cooking, canning, baking, camping and gardening. Perhaps the most fruitful of her gardens lies in her family. She planted the seed of love and watched as it blossomed into five beautiful children, who in turn started gardens of their own.

Memorial donations may be made to St. John United Church of Christ or to the charity of the donor's choice.
