[JULY 10, 2006]  Kenneth McCray, 81, of Lincoln died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at St. Clara's Manor.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Peasley Funeral Home. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Marion Henderson officiating.

Burial, with military rites, will be in Zion Cemetery.

Mr. McCray worked as a contractor in home construction in the Lincoln area.

He served with the U.S. Army in Africa and Italy during World War II.

He was born Nov. 8, 1924, at Beason to Walter and Stella Russell McCray. He married Ona A. Campbell in Springfield on Nov. 24, 1964. She died Feb. 17, 1998.

He is survived by two brothers, Harold (and Betty) McCray of Canyon Lake, Texas, and Leroy (and Judith) McCray of Lincoln; two sisters, Norma Anderson of Lincoln and Betty (and Jerry) Heckler of Riverton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth W. McCray Jr., and two brothers, Ronald McCray and Paul McCray.

He attended Lincoln Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to the Oasis senior citizens center, VNA Hospice or St. Clara's Manor.
