Lawanda McKinney

[JULY 19, 2006]  DECATUR -- Lawanda K. McKinney, 56, formerly of Peoria, died Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at 12:03 a.m. at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Beason.

Mrs. McKinney retired from Ozark-TWA as a reservationist after more than 25 years.

She was born Oct. 6, 1949, in Lincoln to Roy K. and Mae Nell Smith Lowery. She married Dearl McKinney on May 24, 1976, in Houston, Mo.

She is survived by her husband, of Decatur; two daughters, Tanya Wingard (and Tom) of Decatur and Daniele McKinney of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons, Joseph McKinney (and Monica) of Lafayette, Ind., and Dennis McKinney Jr. of Decatur; two stepsons, Dearl McKinney Jr. (and Kim) of Peoria and Dennis McKinney Sr. (and Tammy) of Peoria; one sister, Judi Taylor (and Dan) of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Kenneth Lowery (and Debbie) of Rochester and David Lowery of Memphis, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. McKinney was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
