Betty Batterton

[JULY 24, 2006]  Betty Jean Batterton, 72, formerly of Lincoln, died July 16, 2006, at Warsaw Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw, Mo.

Her body was cremated.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 30, at Eminence Christian Church, rural Atlanta, with Shawn Harris officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church.

Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery at a later date.

Mrs. Batterton had been a cook at the Hotel Lincoln, Busy Bee and Tropics restaurants.

She was born April 2, 1934, in Logan County to Roy David and Elverna Jones Vannoy. She married Jerald Batterton. He died July 20, 1991.

She is survived by four daughters, Edith Miller, Viola Barringear, Linda Yanez and Evelyn Houghton, all of Lincoln; two brothers, Derrell Vannoy of Atlanta and Jerrell Vannoy of Lincoln; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and 20 nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two infant daughters; one sister, Irene Frye Leesman; infant twin brothers; and three grandchildren

She attended the Atlanta Assembly of God church.

Eminence Christian Church will accept memorials to help defray funeral expenses.
