A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at
Zion Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard Reinwald and
Jim Hopp officiating. Mr. Hopp retired after 25
years at Pittsburg Plate Glass. He had also worked
at Lincoln Ice Plant and Sieb's Hatchery.
He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine for 10
years.
He was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Lincoln to John W.
and Clara Redman Hopp. He married Anneta "Nita" M.
Willmert on Nov. 25, 1953, in Lincoln.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; three
sons, Phillip M. Hopp of Lincoln, Jon W. (and Julie)
Hopp of Mason City and Donald E. Hopp Jr. of
Lincoln; one daughter, Donna L. Sommers of Beason;
two brothers, James (and Diane) Hopp of Sun City,
Ariz., and Robert (and Dorothy) Hopp of Jamestown,
Pa.; and one sister, Geraldine Heinzel of Lincoln;
eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and one sister preceded him in
death.
He was a member of Moose Lodge 1441, a 40-year
member of American Legion Post 263 and a 50-year
member of Eagles Lodge 2708.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and camping
for 18 years of his 21 years of retirement.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather,
brother and friend and will be greatly missed.
