ST. LOUIS -- With betterment in nearly every
statistical category from a year ago, it wasn't a surprise when
Illinois State's Greg Dilligard was selected as one of the five
players named to the 2006 Missouri Valley Conference Most Improved
Team on Wednesday, as voted by the league's beat writers.

Dilligard leads the squad
in both scoring and rebounding. The 6-foot-8 junior is averaging 9.9
points per game, up from his 6.5 points per contest last season. He
also hauled in 154 rebounds this season, or 5.7 per game, after
collecting 136 boards during the 2004-05 campaign. The product of
La Belle, Mo., also ranks among the league leaders in field goal
percentage, at .538, and blocked shots, with 60. His shot blocking
total stands as the second-best single-season performance in
Illinois State history, while he becomes only the fourth player in
school history to total 100 or more blocks in a career.
Joining Dilligard on the league's most improved team were
Creighton's Anthony Tolliver, Missouri State's Blake Ahearn and
Southern Illinois' Randal Falker and Tony Young.
