To the editor: Thanks for the excellent
tribute to Bill Hull in
the Feb. 28 Lincoln Daily News. Like you indicated, we were all
saddened to hear of his death. He will be missed greatly by his
family and the community. I have known Bill since we were Danforth
Award recipients when we were seniors in the College of Agriculture
-- Bill at the U of I and I at Kansas State University. We were
representing our respective states as Danny Boys, a leadership
program for seniors in colleges of agriculture, sponsored by the
Ralston Purina Company. We spent two weeks in St. Louis and two
weeks of intensive leadership training at Camp Minnewanka on the
shores of Stony Lake, Mich. The knowledge, attitude and skills
developed in that program paid off many times in the leadership Bill
provided the community.

I can relate to your comments about his welcoming manner and
pleasant personality. Your comment reminded me of many discussions I
had with Bill over the years. Luckily, my wife and I saw Bill and
Starr this past summer as we were traveling through Illinois.
Although he had his transplant recently, little did we expect that
he would be taken from us so suddenly. We were so sorry to hear the
news. I agree with you: He was one of a kind, and one of the very
best.
