Learning and space mission a success

[MARCH 23, 2006]  The Lincoln Junior High School sixth-grade classes got to take a field trip to the Challenger Learning Center on March 1. It was a simulated mission into space, with work was conducted on a space station and in mission control.

This field trip was a great learning experience for all of the sixth-graders. The program encouraged team-building, decision-making and gave life lessons in stress and patience. It was a curriculum-based field trip that focused on math, science, engineering and technology.

All of the kids loved it, and we had four successful missions. We spent about three weeks training for the field trip, and everything the teacher taught us we used.

We owe a lot to our teachers, so we would like to thank them. The field trip was a huge financial commitment, so we would also like to thank everyone who donated money to help fund it.

[Heather Morrow, sixth-grade student (with assistance from Mrs. Irwin, teacher)]
