Blood drive to help restock local hospitals  Send a link to a friend

[MARCH 31, 2006]  SPRINGFIELD -- Due to recent weather-related blood drive cancellations, blood donations are needed to restock the blood supply to local hospitals. To help, there will be a blood drive on Monday from noon to 6 p.m. at the Logan County Paramedic Association building, 1300 N. Postville Drive in Lincoln.

Lincoln Community High School is competing for a $1,000 scholarship again in this year's Springfield Clinic High School Blood Challenge. Come out to donate blood and help the high school win.

To schedule an appointment, call Tara toll-free at 1 (866) 448-3253, ext. 56. Walk-ins are always welcome and sincerely appreciated.

If you've donated blood before, thank you. You've experienced the personal satisfaction of knowing that you gave life to another person. For those who have never donated, the total time necessary is about an hour, which includes a confidential medical survey, mini physical and about 10 minutes in the donor chair.

We never know when we, or someone close to us, may need an emergency blood transfusion. You assume the hospital will have the blood, but it comes only from the generosity of blood donors. Please help the blood center help others.

The Central Illinois Community Blood Center is a not-for-profit organization that provides to blood to 20 area hospitals.
