J. Michael Abbott

[NOV. 3, 2006]  James Michael "Mike" Abbott, 58, of Lincoln died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at 9:33 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday at Lincoln Elks Lodge 914, 1020 1525 St. A memorial service for Mr. Abbott will follow at 5 p.m. at the same location.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be at a later date.

Peasley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Abbott was the owner of J.M. Abbott & Associates and Pacesetter Financial Services.

He was born Oct. 24, 1948, in Lincoln to James William and Katherine Harrison Abbott. He married Bobbi Hrehovcsik in Lincoln on Dec. 30, 1971.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Andrew Michael Abbott and James Gregory Abbott, both of Carbondale; his mother, of Lincoln; two sisters, Kathy (and Bill) Daunais of Madison, Conn., and Beth (and Dave) Eckert of Waukegan; three nieces; 10 nephews; and six great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James William Abbott.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, a member of Lincoln Elks Lodge 914 since 1979, a member of the Lincoln Elks Charitable Trust board and the Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce. He was a past president of the ALMH Foundation.

He graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1966. He then graduated from Southern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1970. He earned his CPA certification in 1976. He later earned a personal financial specialist certification in 1996.

Memorials may be made to Lincoln Elks Charitable Trust or ALMH Foundation.
