Raymond DeFrees

[NOV. 24, 2006]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Raymond L. DeFrees, 60, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, at 10:48 a.m. at his home.

His body was cremated. No services are scheduled.

Arrangements were handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home.

Mr. DeFrees was a support service worker at Lincoln Developmental Center and was a construction worker for the Laborers union.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He was born April 8, 1946, in Springfield to Roy and Mildred Reynolds DeFrees. He married Barbara "B.J." Stansbury on Aug. 10, 2001, in Lincoln.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; one son, Robert Rice of Mount Pulaski; one daughter, Cody (and Ronald) Shawgo of Lincoln; and one sister, Wanda Haberland of Emden; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty.

He was a member of American Legion Post 263 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Memorials may be made to Logan County Relay For Life.
