Vera Steffens

[NOV. 27, 2006]  Vera M. Steffens, 89, of Lincoln died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at 12:05 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Her funeral will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Donald Mann officiating.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Steffens retired from Lincoln IGA after 13 1/2 years. She also worked at Gossetts Dry Cleaning.

She was born June 20, 1917, in Garden City, Kan., to Louis and Amanda Cress Fullriede. She married Clarence Michaelis in 1937, and he preceded her in death in 1944. She then married Clarence M. Steffens in February 1951; he preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 1989.

She is survived by one son, Larry (and Bette) Steffens of Lincoln; one sister, Anna Blevins of Mason City; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters and two daughters.

She had been a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln since 1924. She was also member of the Ladies Aid Society.

Memorials may be made to the building fund at her church or to Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln.
