[OCT. 6, 2006]  David Cross, 65, of Lincoln died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, at 6:15 a.m. at his home.

His funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Emden, with the Rev. David Hofer officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11:30 at the church.

Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, rural Emden.

Arrangements are by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Mr. Cross retired from farming in the Emden area.

He was born Feb. 23, 1941, in Lincoln to Henry C. and Margot McCormick Cross. He married Donna Coffey on June 23, 1962, in Emden.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; two sons, Daniel (and Angie) Cross of Clarksville, Tenn., and Scott Cross of Glendale, Calif.; one daughter, Vicki Johnson of Fayetteville, N.C.; one sister, Anne (and Richard) Burt of Minier; and seven grandchildren, Lillian, David, Morgan and Paul Cross, John and Sarah Cross, and Grant Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Galyn Cross.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Emden, where he was a past Sunday school treasurer and assistant superintendent, council president, and deacon.

He served as an Orvil Township trustee; trustee of Emden Fire Department for 31 years and president of the board; board member for Emden Farmer's Grain since 1972, serving as vice president from 1986 to 1989 and president from 1989 to 2005; and board member of Farmer's State Bank of Emden since 1996.

Memorials may be made to the old Bethel Church fund, St. Peter Lutheran Church or Emden Rescue Squad.
