Harold Sasse

[OCT. 6, 2006]  Harold G. Sasse, 78, of Lincoln died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, at 11:16 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

His funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church of Chestnut, with the Rev. Joel Dietrich officiating.

Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln and on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service.

Burial is in Laenna Cemetery, Chestnut.

Mr. Sasse retired from farming in Eminence and Oran townships.

He was born June 2, 1928, in Shobonier to Herman and Johanna Rolfing Sasse. He married Lorraine Schaal on Oct. 30, 1949, at St. Peter, Ill.

He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; three sons, Dean (and Martha) Sasse of Atlanta, David (and Gail) Sasse of Beason and Michael Sasse of Lincoln; one sister, Arlene (and Harold) Rubin of Centralia; one sister-in-law, Selma Sasse of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Heather (and Michael) Turner of Atlanta, Allen (and Heather) Sasse of Beason, Nathan Sasse of Chestnut and Abrigail Sasse of Beason; and five great-grandchildren, Lauren Turner, Erin Turner and Jordyn Turner, all of Atlanta, and Tyler Sasse and Peyton Sasse, both of Beason.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Everett, Edward and an infant brother, Harold.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Chestnut, the church council and the Lutheran Laymen's League. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau of

DeWitt County, DeWitt County Prime Timers and the Linpro square dancing club.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church of Chestnut or the American Heart Association.
